No animals were harmed in the making of this blog post. We promise. Our weekly hunt for the hottest tips and trends to bring you showed us yet another long-lasting trend: fur. Cropped coats, long dusters, even vests, scarves, and bags were lined with this luscious material – real or faux – to the highest degree. While in California we may be hitting our chilly winter temperatures of 65 degrees, that doesn’t mean we don’t want to bundle up. And even though some brands, like Stella McCartney and Gucci are staving off real fur and opting for high-quality faux fabric, that doesn’t mean this trend isn’t worth your while. Regardless of what you choose, we’ve found some fabulous pieces sure to keep you warm and cozy, all while lighting up the sidewalk as your personal catwalk.

Max Mara gave us both animal print and classic monochromatic coats. The show was opened with a fuzzy sweater tucked into a long, floor-brushing skirt, all with a hefty leopard-print fur coat draped off the shoulders. Yes, we know – that’s a lot of print. But if you want to go big, we say go big with this coat. Or, if you want a more subdued, wearable, everyday coat, check out the white and pink ones. Layered effortlessly over a graphic tee and a silk dress, these coats are the perfect mix of casual and chic. If it’s a little chilly outside, pull on your favorite jeans, a graphic tee, and this coat. Or, if you’re headed out, grab a form-hugging mini dress and some heeled booties for a sophisticated eveningwear look. These coats don’t try too hard, and keeps your wardrobe looking young and fresh.

Time for some celeb look-book notes. And we’re going from one extreme to another. One of the most talked-about fur pieces in recent history (we mean 2016 here, everyone) comes from the runway of Yves Saint Laurent, where a heart-shaped fur coat in vibrant red stole the show. Yet it’s absurd price tag of $15,000 didn’t the few daring celebrities to pick it up. The notable battle of “who wore it best” was between Kendall Jenner and Rihanna – two fashion giants. The singer wore the show-stopping, maximalist piece with jean shorts (what?!) and strappy heels, pulling off a bold and unique look. Kendall did some tattered jeans and thin-rimmed glasses, causing many to call out a copycat on Rihanna’s look. The consensus was that the singer did it better – but you make your own decision. On the other end of the spectrum, Hailey Baldwin gave us a wonderfully cozy look we’re dying to copy. Washed jeans and an off-white hoodie were completed with a teddy-bear brown coat and (perhaps even fuzzier) pink Gucci slippers. Oversized coats can work wonders for even the most basic of outfits, and are nowhere near going out of style. The model proves that here. Show stopping or extra comfy-cozy, these celebrities give some great examples on how to wear this trend.
